C.H. West wins again in Olympic

    Tuesday, April 20, 2004

The Cherry Hill West High School volleyball team came up with another big win on Monday.

The Lions rallied to hand Cherry Hill East its first loss of the season, 3-1 in an Olympic Conference American Division match. With the win the Lions went to 2-1 in the tough American Division race and 5-2 overall. Cherry Hill East is now 2-1 in the division and 4-1 overall.

Over the past seven days the Lions played the toughest three teams in South Jersey and came away with a 2-1 mark. They beat Eastern and Cherry Hill East and fell to Washington Township.

"We just have to accept the fact every American Division match is going to be a war," West coach Scott Sweeten said.

"It's going to make for a fun season for everyone but the coaches."

Cherry Hill East took the first game 25-17. But West rallied to win games of 25-21, 26-24 and 25-10.

"Sometimes emotion doesn't work for us like in the first game," Sweeten said. "We started settling down in the second game and things went pretty well for us from that point. In the fourth and last game it simply came down to the fact we made less mistakes than East."
